My name is Anas Aremeyaw Anas. I am an Undercover Journalist.

I have gone undercover in various institutions in numerous countries- ranging from the inner circles of government to brothels and mad houses. My aim in doing undercover journalism is to name, shame and jail. In our part of the world, sometimes simply gathering information is not enough, you need to back it up with hard core evidence and this is what I do. I remain eternally grateful to my fans all over the world for the many words of encouragement that I receive every day. Your encouragement and acknowledgement of my work makes it easier for me to wake up every day and continue with this crusade.

Deadly Gold – Available in selected outlets.

Galamsey, literally referred to as “gather and sell” is a term used to refer to the illegal mining activity that runs rampant in some regions of Ghana. The practice is so widespread that it has now been taken over by foreigners who have absolutely no regard for the laws in Ghana. After several months of investigation in 2011, ace reporter Anas Aremeyaw Anas uncovered how this activity resulted in the death of miners, the labour exploitation of children, destruction of farmlands, and water pollution on a large scale.

Perhaps, the most dismal finding however, was the discovery that the dangerous practice thrived due to the fact that those engaged in it, especially the foreigners, bribe local chiefs and police officers to gain their support, protection and silence.

On the international front, you lifted high the flag of Ghana on the world stage. You were decorated just a few weeks ago with three gold medals by the Indian Prime Minister in New Delhi; making you the first African to win the Karpoor Chandra Kulish International Award for Excellence in Print Journalism.
